When running your sample at http://live.intersoftpt.com/Default.aspx?url=cs/WebGrid/ClientBinding_Paging.aspx, I receive the attached error message.
The link from "problem" https://connect.microsoft.com/IE/feedback/details/635648/ goes nowhere for me. What is the problem with IE9 that prohibits the sample from rendering properly?
Hello,
Thank you for your valuable feedback. We are really appreciate it.There is a difference way to display iframe in IE9.
Example, if the parent in XHTML pages, the iframe would be forced to load in XHTML too.As you know, many of our samples used HTML mode as default which would be rendered as quirk mode. When forced to XHTML, it would be break some scripts unless we changed the doctype in the sample or support some products in XHTML.However, if you open the sample in “new tab” or “new window” or “IE8”, it will work fine.
For the future, we are planning to customize our samples in HTML5 mode which would also resolve this issue as well.
Regards,Hans
I’m sorry for this inconvenience. The reason why we show that error message because basically there is a bug in IE9 if we are using iFrame and the link “problem” is referring you to the Microsoft forum thread that discuss about this issue/bug.
I’ll give you an attachment, screenshot about that thread
If you want to see our live sample, please change your IE browser mode to “Internet Explorer 8”.
Hope this helps. Thank you.
Regards,
Hans K.
Hello Hans,
The screenshots you supplied show that this issue as closed and Microsoft says it's working as designed. I understand that your opinion is that it's a bug (and I can understand why you think so), but that does not change the fact that this is how IE9 works and will continue to work.
Has any thought been given about how to update the code so that it is fully compatible with IE9? For example, if I understand correctly, this problem appears to occur because you need the iFrame to run in Quirks Mode (which it can't in this scenario), and this causes problems with the grid. If this is correct, could grid source be changed so that the grid no longer requires Quirks Mode?
