We currently use the AggregateFunction to turn on the totals row. This is working nicely for totals. However, we also need to add a "balance" row. So we need to add a row below the "totals" row where we would add Balance information (see attached image).
The attached image is for a grid used for budgeting where allocated and used values are totalled. But we also want to show the balance remaining, i.e., subtract what's used from allocated. Is this feature available in the grid or will we have to infuse the row into the HTML ourselves similar to how we're padding the grid? Thank you.
Hello Yousif,
Unfortunately, this scenario could not be done. However, if there is too many records, the added row would be inserted into the last and users would hardly notice the information. They would need to scroll down to see the information.
My suggestion, you can write the information besides in total footer element.
Regards,Handy
Hi Handy,
That's too bad. This would be a really useful feature and would like to add it to the list for a future update please?
I, unfortunately, can't put it next to it right now as I don't make the design decisions. And it really can't be put next to it without the column having to be very wide. Now I haven't tried this, but I wonder if we can make the row twice as high and stick the balance under it which would work better. I'll see if that can be done.
[EDIT] Handy, how can we update the generated text without modifying the HTML. So if our FooterText is set to "Total" and the output is "Total $1,000,000" and we want to append to this a new line like "Balance $30,000" so the cell would show as in our 3-column example:
Total $500,000 Total $1,000,000 Total $75,000 Balance $30,000
See attached which shows the footer twice as high which would work if we can add extra info to it. Also, note the "extra" line on the footer that is a "hole" or "gap" in formatting. That column is a "trailer" column we add to extend the grid to the right. It's basically a column with which the user cannot do anything.
Hi Yousif,
It is no matter where you want to put the information. It is just that we could not add the row. However, based on my previous suggestion, you need to put or write in the element. Previously, I suggested besides the footer. But you can also add <tr><td> element before or after the footer element. With this way, you can achieve your point.
E.g, In my attachment sample, I use a element before the footer element. I modify the height and put the text in there. You can also try to do the same method. I am sure it would work. You only need to place it in the correct place and give some design style of the element.
Hope this helps.
Handy,
Today, the grid is deciding not to resize correctly and now the status bar is being pushed down (see attached). Why would this start happening? It was working fine per my previous snapshots and I've made no style, grid or page changes. Ideas? This is very frustrating.
In my experience, sometimes it is also affected by how fast or heavy when loading the page. The resize animation can be also disturbed because of this. Also, as you mentioned before, you also used masterpage. I hope that we can have your detail structure include the masterpage to replicate the issue. Because this issue is not easy to replicate. Btw, after used your workaround, does the issue happen every time? How about the footer issue in this thread? Does my workaround help you?

You have our exact master page layout in this thread: Grid-Not-Sizing-Correctly-Vertically-After-Latest-Update
I'm not sure what workaround you're referring to. I haven't used any workaround yet. The grid just uses the normal footers. I've been working on a possible solution to infuse the code for the "Balance" line in the same cell but haven't implemented any of that yet.
I can't really use your workaround as it's client side and would require much more overhead than infusing the html directly on the server side BEFORE the grid is resized.
Ok, but I could not replicate the issue as I said before. Here is my attached picture. I set height and width style for div in Main master. Please help me to replicate your issue by sending me the modify sample.

Per my original request, has this been added in 2011 R1? Thanks.
Based on my previous replies, I already said that this scenario could not be done. If you want to add additional information that similiar with your scenario, you will need to add new element to the footer element. Also, your last issue could not be replicated. We could not fix for something that we were unable to replicate.
That makes no sense. What is there to replicate? I'm asking for the feature request. If I can infuse our custom totals and balance, why can't you guys make it easier on us doing this by providing a template of some kind that we can insert our own custom totals/balance rows in the footer so we don't have to hack the HTML prior to rendering?
Please re-read the original request which is why I included it in my reply since we went off-topic a bit in all the replies above.
Deeply apologized. But if you still insist about the feature request, we will let our developer teams know about it. But there is no guarantee that our developers agree to implement this. That's why I provided workaround at my previous replied.
Hello Handy,
Don't you think this will enhance your product and allow for better flexibility in the footer not just for our needs but also for other customers who may need to customize the footer?
Our work around works great but nonetheless, it's still hacking the HTML which means the possibility of a future breakdown if you guys change anything that affects our parsing algorithm. We have several workarounds like this on other controls too like the WebComboBox.
Rather than having to search/replace for specific tags, text, values, etc. it would be beneficial to provide the option of adding a templated footer which seems like a reasonable approach don't you think?
I hope you can see the value in this. Also, we have something like 15 outstanding issues we've reported of which none have been addressed and some are over a year old. What does it take to get features impelmented and bugs fixed from actual customers using the product? I know we push your product to it's limit under some circumstances, but workarounds are not always an acceptable permanent solutions as they can break with future upgrades/updates.
Is there a development customer liason I need to send all our reported bugs to so we have an idea of what the priority is on them and what the actual expected fix or feature will be done? Thank you.
