Hi, i got the 'error creating control' errors shown in the attached file. After deleting files and directories under 'C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files' the errors still remain.
How can i get rid of them ?
Holger
Hi Alex,
When you copy and paste the control definition, do you add the following code at the top of the page?
<%@ Register Assembly="ISNet.WebUI.WebDesktop" Namespace="ISNet.WebUI.WebDesktop" TagPrefix="ISWebDesktop" %>
If not, then you need to add it first at top under the .NET code file reference.

Hi,
Is this happends before? I mean is the issue happend after you update the hotfix? Or the error suddenly occured. Please check your project's bin folder and make sure that ISNet.WebUI.WebDesktop.dll is occured and ISNet.WebUI.WebDesktop.Resources.dll if you are using SmartWebResources.
Also is this happend to other intersoft controls(e.g WebGrid, WebCombo)?
It happend also before. But now i can't get rid of them. If i insert a new WebTab i got the attached error message.
If i put in a WebGrid it works properly.
Try to remove all the reference to WebDesktop in your project. After that close the project, do iisreset, then open again the project then drag new webtab in new page in your project.
Hope this helps.
One more thing please make sure that the ISNet.WebUI.WebDesktop.dll in your project have the same version like the one in C:\Program Files\Intersoft Solutions\WebUI Studio for ASP.NET\WebDesktop.NET 3.0\Bin.
I think this runs very instable. After doing that an clearing the temp. Internetfiles on .NET the most controls are accessable in VS 2008. But one (WebDialogBox) not. After deleting the Internetfiles once again the WebDialogBox works but all the others get an error.
So why does this happen, and does this occur only by myself ?
Actually it's the first time we got the behaviour. Usually the error will be fix after we do iisreset. Could I know your WebDesktop and Framework version? Also could you try to update the WebDesktop and Framework dll using Update manager?
One more thing, is this only happend in your WebDesktop control?
At the moment it happens at the WebDialogBox.
The DLL versions are:
WebDesktop 3.0.7200.303Framework 3.0.5000.1
I think the iireset does not work, cause i have no IIS installed at the client. I use VS 2008 and this works as you know with an internal http server.
Could you check whether the issue occured in new project? Also we will release our monthly hotfix around this week. You can try to download the latest hotfix for WebDesktop and Framework to check whether the error still occur or not.
Hello,
Are you creating your control by dragging the element to the page design view? I have run into this issue when copying and pasting the HTML code itself in code view. I find that copying and pasting causes errors for me -- and I must create the controls by dragging them from the toolbox. I believe this has to do with how that are created and instantiated within the design file.
