Hi guys,
I'm using the forums now. Unfortunately there are several display problems in the community forums. As an example I have attached two screenshots how I see it.
In the first screenshot (Display_Problem.png, I have cut out my name and email) you can see three problems:
- the main problem: At the right side of the User Profile the whole screen is empty. This suggests that there is no discussion, or that the page didn't finish to load, or whatever. But when scrolling down, you CAN see the discussion list.
- All boxes on the left (User Profile, Latest Dev. Blog, Form Topics, etc.) have a double top-header frame. It looks like some graphics are not aligned well.
- The left Forum Topics box has on its lower right side a missing line (the box isn't closed).
In the second screenshot (Overlap.png) you can see:
- The edit box overlaps the New Discussion frame. (I've marked it in the screenshot.)
By the way, our company uses Internet Explorer 6. There are also some filters in place so that maybe some JavaScripts won't run, although most JavaScript content even on external sites runs fine.
You should correct these bugs and test all your pages with different browsers (also Firefox, etc.)
Maybe other users can post more bugs in this thread?
Hi,
Thank you for your report. For Information, All our WebSite such as Intersoft WebSite and Community site, does not support IE6 or lower. I recommend you to use IE7 or higher to avoid layout issues or some scripts issues.
Regards,Handy
Well, that's your free decision then. But our company with several thousand users will probably not upgrade all IE's today. And I'm sure there are still many many other IE6 users as well. But it looks like I have to live with this then...
(Did you look at the first screenshot in 1:1 resolution?)
Eric, thanks for your feedback.
Our sites are now developed using Web 2.0 standards such as XHTML and table-less layout. Although these standards look good and run consistently in all modern browsers such as Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera, the only browser that will fail is IE 6.x or lower. That's due to their poor compatibility on Web standards.
If you can't upgrade your IE version, how about using other browsers such as Apple Safari 4? Our site is highly optimized for Safari 4, and you'll get best view and performance with it.
Anyway, we'll look into the possibility to support IE6 for our community site, at least for the basic layout and function.
Without telling anything about my company, I can say that in most big companies users usually don't have admin rights or are otherwise prohibited to install any software.
But thanks for letting me know the backgrounds of your decision. I can now understand this better.
I also didn't want to solve a specific problem, it was just to notify you that there actually is a problem for some users.
Hi Eric,
Nice to meet you in our community page.Yes, we aware for this issue. There are some layouting issues when open our website in IE6. The reason already explained by our Technical Team. Thanks for your valueable feedback, we will enhance the website to give an alert to the user if they use elder browser's version. And we will try to fix fallen down floating content for IE6 so at least user get the basic structures correctly.
Tips for you: if you can't install higher browser application, maybe you can try to use Portable Browser application which allow you to run the browser without install it first. But not sure how strict the security policy in your company.
Regards,
Dicky
Just want to inform you if we just handled two issues reported by you regarding UI issues in community page with IE6 and evenmore we are now giving a warning message to IE6 users which should give an awareness to them if browse our website with IE6 will cause some UI issues [because of IE6 limitation].
Please feel free if you have another feedback regarding our website.
