I am not an expert programmer and kind of new to Silverlight, but when i used the trial version of clientui i liked. I completed an application and management were impressed. Of course it was designed using the trial version. we decided to go about and purchased webui studio 2010. When i tried to activate (runtime license) the existing application, i found little documentation about it and could not register the application. There are two locations that contain information about registration. 1)a paragraph in the clientui documentation about the product and 2) your website has an illustrated page.
The documentation does not show how to incorporate the license file in the application. The page that discusses the steps in more detailed and there is a refrence to the license file licenses.islicx and then license.islicx in another location. which one is it? Where do we put it, it says that we put it in the root (in the webapplication root, in the silverlight application root, or the root of the webserver.) Also when we go about generating the runtime license does the application have to be in its final location or can it be done on my development computer.
These may be trivial questions but i have been wrestling with them for the past 10 hours and cant remove the unlicensed mark on my application.
the licenses.islicx file should be located in the silverlight application root. For example, if you create a ClientUI project named ClientUIApp1. By default there will be 2 project, ClientUIApp1 and ClientUIApp1.Web. The license.islicx file should be located in the ClientUIApp1.
If you will not compile the ClientUIApp1 project anymore in the final location, the runtime generation could be done on the development computer. If the final compilation will be done on the final location the license generation should be done on the final location.
Thanks, its ok now
