I am evaluating the WebFileUploader control (along with the rest of the suite). I have configured our IIS6 web.config file as detailed in "IIS 6 and IIS 7 Integrated mode support" documentation. The sample projects work and upload fine. When I add the control to one of our web pages, it appears fine, it compiles fine, and it displays fine on the page, however as soon as the page loads I get a dialog box in IE stating "Unable to initialize file uploader!" with no additional error data. The dialog box appears once for EACH upload line in the uplaod control - e.g. if I set the initial files to 5 I will get 5 dialog with that error message.
Please advise,
Thanks
John
Hi John,
Here is my simple project. Please try to run it and let me know if the error still persists in my simple project or not. I also attached video and you can see that there is no error at all.
My last suggestion: Please remove all the assemblies in your project bin folder and re add them again. (Ensure you re add the correct assemblies)
Regards,Handy
Does it also occur in our sample? I need to replicate the error for investigating the issue. So, could you help me by providing a simple sample or something?
Handy,
Sorry for the delay in my reply. As I stated above, the sample projects work just fine.
The issue only manifests itself when we use the WebFileUploader control in one of our web pages.
We are using your type-ahead drop down however without incident, and as I stated the control loads just fine in the design studio - the issue only appears at run-time.
Our site is extensive so it is not easy for me to provide you with a simple test, however I want to note that our site is based on .NET 2.0 - does the WebFileUploader require .NET 3.5? Are there specific settings that must be applied to the web.config for .NET 2.0 to function with this control. Finally, what are the circumstances in the control where this dialog (Unable to initialize, no additional error) will occur? Can we trace the problem that way?
Thanks again,
John Douglas
Hello John,
Does the error also happen in our WebTextEditorSample? WebFileUploader should be supported in .Net 2.0. I will make a test in .Net 2.0 environment and let you know the result. Also, for the best result, please use our latest hotfix.
I will check - I ran update - there were no patches - is the hotfix located elsewhere? I really need to have our company make a decision by the end of business today (US) - please help, thanks, John
Handy, does InterSoft provide support via this board during US standard business hours? Every time I ask a question it seems to take 24 hours to get a reply, and we are eager to make a decision between the control vendors.
I used update and there were no hotfixes, and I received no reply to my earlier question.
The problem does not happen with the WebTextEditor sample. The problem happens on a Content page that inherits from a master. Please advise as soon as you are able, I have received permission to wait until tomorrow morning to make a purchase decision.
Thanks,
I am sorry for the late reply due to different time zones we have (GMT + 7). Regarding your issue, could you help me by guiding me how to replicate the issue? If you could not send me the sample, maybe you can guide me how to replicate it by describing what is inside the page. Currently, I am creating a simple project in VS2005 with WebUploader. I don't face any error at all. So, could you help me?
