Hello Vince,
If I am not mistaken, the white space also would be discard in WebGrid. Unfortunately, there is no EncodeOutput properties in WebGrid. Normally, we use " " and set ColumnType "Custom" as workaround. So, you will need to override the text again with using as replacement of space.
