We are having a few WebGrid issues within our application that are affecting our Safari users.
Firstly, there are a few display issues where WebGrids are not maintaining their correct heights. I have found these issues are present in your live demo also (see attached screenshots), so my question is, is there a specific workaround to avoid this? Or is this just how it works at the moment?
Secondly, we have a number of WebGrids containing links or buttons which use Custom PostBackAction, and when these are clicked within Safari browsers the user receives an "Unable to communicate with server" error briefly before the error disappears and nothing happens.
Thanks.
Hi Michael,
First, we can replicate your issue about the layout of WebGrid on our end. We will report this issue to our developer.
For the second issue, could you explain me what action that you run while clicking the links or buttons while doing the PostBackAction? It would be better if you could make a simple runable sample that replicate this issue so that we could check it on our end.
Regards,
Lili Khiung
I've attached a sample that replicates our issue.
The problem is very strange, it appears that when clicking a button or link within a webgrid, if the mouse is NOT still held down when the postback finishes, the error is thrown - but otherwise it works.
This is difficult but possible to see in the sample, as I have tried to simplify it but this makes the postback rather fast - hopefully I've made sense.
Once again, this only seems to be happening in Safari browsers.
I have tried your sample, but it worked just fine. I can't replicate your issue. Does it happen when the data is much because the postback is fast and worked just fine?
I've attached another sample.
The postback should take a couple of seconds this time, and you should see that when you click a button normally it will error, but when you hold it down for the duration it will work.
Hi,
I’m currently still investigating this issue and need more time to provide you with solution, suggestion, or sample. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
I have tried your second sample. But unfortunately I couldn't replicate your issue here. Here, I attach the video of your sample on my end. It didn't show any error even when I clicked the button normally or hold it down during the duration. Is there any specific condition or step to follow the issue?
Were you able to reproduce the error when using the Webgrid 6 files I included? I noticed you are using the latest version in the video.
I'm assuming this error has been fixed in the latest version, but would like to confirm this is the case and not just a problem on our end.
Also, is there any news on the display issue?
I have tested in WebGrid6. But the result is just the same. The sample worked just fine in our end.
About the display issue, there is still no update from our developer. We will inform you as soon as we get any update from our developer.
Your issue about the layout in Safari browser can be replicated now. This issue has been fixed and will be delivered in the next WebGrid hotfix release. In the mean time, please check your inbox message in your email for further information.
Thank you.
That's good to hear, thanks.
Regarding the issue in my sample, are you sure it was tested with the WebGrid files/same version that I included? We can reproduce this error on each of our machines that we've tested.
Thanks, Michael.
I have re-tested your sample and able to replicate your issue using WebGrid6. And I have checked and tested that your issue is fixed by using the latest WebGrid6 and Framework hotfix. So I suggest you to update your WebGird6 and your framework to the latest hotfix.
Hope it helps.
