I tried for the last 1 week to get the client binding work, including the existing features like Export, InGrid Editing and Custom Editors. After spending so much time, I realized its just doesn’t work.
1. Export - not at all working.
2. InGrid editing - to make this work in client binding, I need to have a strongly typed object. this doesn’t help at all for my application. In My app, Columns are dynamically picked from DataBase along with the data. why cant you keep it simple ?, May be pass an Array of modified values or pass an array of WebGridCellData with new and old data members.
Tried to override the service events, do the updating manually and then return "false" at client side event "Service.Updating". But the grid keeps showing the busy icon if I return false. I just don’t know how to cancel these events from client side. there is no clear documentation on this.
3. Custom editors - we had few custom editors which stopped working. I have to investigate the reason for this.
But after spending so much of time to get this clientbinding working, I feel it doesn’t make sense to continue with this.
Any suggestions / samples would be greatly helpful.
thank you.
Hello,It's true that exporting would not work in client bindin via WebService. This is already default behaviour because exporting requires data which should be returned from server.
About the rest issue, would you mind to send me a simple runable sample that replicates this issue? We will need them to investigate your issue.
Regards,Handy
