I found the solution.  I needed to remove if (!PostBack) in the code behind that had webgrid's datasource and databinding.

To give more information on this problem: it seems if I click the refresh icon or try paging through the data I get the same data.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. 

I have a WebGrid that has a WebCombo.  Inside of the WebCombo is a WebTreeView.  I dynamically create the WebTreeView in the Page_Load method of the code behind.  My problem is on the initial load of the WebGrid, the data shows the value NOT the description(text).
