Dear Albert,

Thanks for the good questions.

Our products are largely driven by our customers feedback and market demand. Currently, we are highly prioritizing iOS and Android as we received the highest demand on these two platforms. The Windows support is increasingly complicated due to Microsoft's new unified platform strategy which would make existing platforms obsolete in the near future. Nevertheless, we continue to support Windows based on our customer's feedback. For instance, in this release, we shipped Navigation Drawer control and template for Windows 8.

With regards to the map view on Windows Phone, please file a feature request and vote it up. We will consider to add it in the next update if we received enough votes for it.

Regarding universal apps, it's actually a cross-platform solution which comprised of shared project and platform-specific project, similar to Crosslight solution. The main difference is that universal app is favoring Windows' own platforms such as ability to share XAML in the Core project. However, having XAML in shared project definitely defeats the purpose of SoC (separation-of-concern), and furthermore, it doesn't benefit other platforms. Therefore, so far, we don't see any benefits of supporting universal apps currently. In general, we continue to believe in our design philosophy which provides the most benefits for developers of all platforms due to vendor-agnostic shared project concept.

Hope this helps.

Hi Albert,

Apologize for the inconvenience caused. We've tested the installers on our Macs intensively, but nevertheless, there could be certain different environment settings that may cause unexpected issues.

The issue seems related to the failure to install the item templates for Mac. Which version of Xamarin Studio installed in your end?

Also could you please check the install.log in /var/log? You can paste only the error related to the Crosslight installer.

We will try our best to resolve any reported issues as soon as we can. Thanks!

Hello Thomas,

Yup, that's correct. But I've edited the link as we avoided direct download since we used CDN for redirection.

Thanks!

Just a quick update, Crosslight 3 is coming soon, estimated to be around early next week.

Hello Thomas,

The latest released version, Crosslight 2.6, should have supported Yosemite and Xcode 6, as well as latest Xamarin updates. So it's safe to continue development using the latest Crosslight build.

Let us know if you encounter any issues.
