Hi Bernard,

I have attached a sample project that recreates the problem that we are seeing.  The non-modal form works fine and the modal form works fine in IE and Chrome.  The only time there is a problem is when running the Modal form in Firefox.

Please let us know when you have verified that the problem exists and please keep us up to date on the resolution.  We are waiting on this pretty anxiously.

Thanks

We are using the unofficial hotfix (905) and it made most of our problems go away. However we found that the problems still exist in Firefox modal dialogs. WebGrids are non-functional, WebCombos are non-functional and show that "number 6" error where the drop-down button ought to be, and the developer console is full of errors like these:

TypeError: window.attachEvent is not a function
http://localhost:51383/ISRes.axd?F/ISCore.js/305000905
Line 49

TypeError: window.attachEvent is not a function
http://localhost:51383/ISRes.axd?C/WebCombo.js/607200254
Line 11

TypeError: window.attachEvent is not a function
http://localhost:51383/ISRes.axd?G/WebGrid_Core.js/807200254
Line 9

TypeError: window.attachEvent is not a function
http://localhost:51383/ISRes.axd?G/WebGrid_UI.js/807200254
Line 7

How should we proceed? Unfortunately we have discovered this very close to a product release so we'd like to be updated as soon as possible. Thanks for your help.

Please try it with the following doctype:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

Mine is in IE 10 browser mode and IE 8 document mode. Please try again with the correct settings. There are files with images that show the issue.

Yudi,

As we have already discussed, I am unable to use any of the solutions you have provided:

  • Our application supports IE9, as does your WebGrid control. I cannot ask users to upgrade their browsers just to achieve acceptable performance.
  • Classic paging is a worse user experience than the current setup.
  • The collapsed grouping had only minor performance benefits (10%), and is also a less desirable user experience.

I am still using WebGrid in a recommended way, in a supported browser, with a small amount of data. I desperately need it to perform better under this simple configuration. Can your development team please provide another hotfix to improve the rendering?

Thanks.

Yudi,

Thank you for responding. I have replaced the DLLs in my sample project with the ones you sent in the pre-release, and have rerun all of my tests. I found that the new DLLs have 0% improvement over the old ones. Running both samples side-by-side gives the same results.

Can you please try the sample I provided earlier with the new version of the DLLs and confirm my results?

Thanks.

What I want to do is be able to set a customer html attribute to the root element in the grid.

<div data-customattribute="...">

This div being the root element for the grid

</div>

This would allow me to set my own custom attributes that I would use in other clientside scripts that I use throughout my application.

Hi Yudi,

I'm just checking in again to see if the hotfix that you mentioned is available yet? If not, can you please let me know when to expect it (ie: calendar date)?

Thanks.

Hi Yudi,

I'm just following up to see if the hotfix is available yet? If so, please let me know how to get it.

If not, please provide an estimate (calendar date) of when it will be ready. I need an estimate so that I can plan changes to my product based on when the hotfix is available. This issue is very important to me and my clients!

Thanks.

FYI, this affects us too - we've sent out a mass email to all of our customers instructing them not to upgrade to Firefox 20 until we let them know.  Standing by for your update Bernard.

Thanks!
