This issue occurs when the "Allow Multiline" property is set to true for the cell.

No this does not help.  I do not want to change the hyperlinkdisplaytext for all rows, only for the rows that are DBNull.

However there is not a hyperlinkdisplaytext off the e.row.cells.

The sample you provide uses a microsoft Access database.  I am using SQL Server, and it does not accept a paremeter in the form (ParentID=?) but rather (ParentID=@Param1)
