I made a minor modification on “EditorTypes.aspx” WebGrid reference sample file by adding another WebCombo for “SupplierID” column in order to test your issue on my end. I was unable to replicates the issue on my end using the attached sample.

Please have the attached sample tested on your end. In case that there is anything that I might missed during my attempt to repro your issue, please kindly modify the sample and sent back to us for further investigation.

Unfortunately, i could not run your sample because i don't have any of your database reference. But i was trying the WebCombo settings as you did in your .aspx. It works well and no errors. 

So, does this error only occur when your set AutoFitColumns and no error if not?

Also, the way you set DataTextField , seems not relevant with WebGridColumn datamember. WebGridColumn has datamember "id" which you showed "name" as DataTextField WebCombo. 

This seems more similar with ValueList scenario.

Also, please ensure if "employee_id" is relevant with "person_id".
