WebGrid.Resources.dll version problem (two files with same version but different content)

Hi, I'm currently trying to fix some dll version problems, probably unrelated to WebGrid. I found that I have two different versions of the file ISNet.WebUI.WebGrid.Resources.dll on my computer. Both have a file size of 1'302'528 bytes and a version of 6.0.7200.220.

But comparing them with a hex editor shows some differences. For example at position (offset) 0x88: one file has a byte 0x17 there, while the other one has a 0x21 there. Or at offset 0xA8 we have either 0x7B 0xB8 or 0xA7 0xBB. Or at offset 0x180 we have either 0x81 0x98 or 0xAD 0x9B, etc.

Why are there two files with different content but same version identifiers?

Which file is newer and should be used?

Hi Handy, I cannot find out any details, but you're probably right. The only hotfix I've ever used was this one: Link

It does have the mentioned version, so yes, this could have come from there.

It's difficult to find out what came from where. File dates are not reliable - if you re-download they are different anyway. And even the zip file in the thread mentioned above is binary different to the one I downloaded on April 21, 2010. The content is identical though. Maybe this difference comes from our firewall when doing some virus checking during downloading?

Anyway, you can treat this issue as closed.

I would suggest that you give even hotfixes a different version number in the future. Thanks.

Hello Eric,

How about date time stamp? If the content is different, it should be not the same.
Perhaps, in the past, you ever received a nightly hotfix from us. I suggest you to pick the newer one. It should contain more fixes or enhancements.

Regards,
Handy
