ButtonImage Column sample does not work with DOCTYPE set to XHTML
try NewButtonImageColumnType.aspx sample with XHTML masterpage and you will see that a full page postback is triggered afer the flypostback and then the callout box dissapears.

I have tried the sample with DocType set to XHTML, and I did encounter the same issue. I will report this issue to the developer team to be investigated further. So far, I couldn't assume which control causes this issue yet.
I will let you know when I get the update from them.
