Dear IS,I use your Hierarchical mode grid to handle my Header-Detail data.I use Server side binding to a queried datatable, both Header or Detail, because some data is retrieved from Master Table. And because I need to perform some task (ie. adding last updated date and user id, and checking data validity) when user submitted batch update, I cannot use explisit data source. Any idea how to do it?Because I cannot find any Hierarchical example that doesn't use explisit data source.
Thank you
Hello,
WebGrid hierarchical only can be created with ISDataSource or bind via dataset. However, if you want to use another way such as Unbound way, I am afraid you could not do this for your scenario.Unbound is designed just for viewing the data. It is not designed for insert, update and delete. You try to look for our WebGrid unbound (without hierarchical). If you do any flypostback request such as refresh, sorting or filtering, it will raise an error.
Regards,Handy
Hello Indah,
Would you mind to provide a simple working sample that shows how do you bind your Hierarchical WebGrid? We also need to know what did you mean by explisit data source?
Dear IS,
I'm sorry for the unclear question I've got.First of all, I've searching for all Hierarchical Sample in your Installation Sample. And the nearest possible way to bind grid - with what I intend to do - is in "Unbound Hierarchical.aspx"(I'm sorry, I really don't know how to say it with word)But in your sample, the child data that would be binded, is matched to Parent data in one-by-one way.I intend to use the unbound way, but with queried datatable. The child grid could perform complete data manipulation (Insert/Delete/Update), and again, with a queried command, not with ISDataSource or SQLDataSource, because some data that viewed in this grid is just a master description data.
Yesterday, I found the way to perform data checking for Child grid with Batch Update. But still, I had no idea how to show the Child data.Should I bound it to its parent's data, one-by-one?Is there any simple sample for this unbound way ?
Hope this a little bit more clear for you.Thanx.
Thank you for your explanation.Maybe I need to a little bit to turn around with this case.
Thank you for your support.
