I'm a licensed user of WebGrid, currently using version 6.0.7200.210.
Three questions:
1) If I use a doctype of "<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">", then the column headers are not aligned with the actual colums.
If I change the doctype to "<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" >", then the WebGrid displays correctly, but I can't use this doctype, because the whole site is designed using the xhtml doctype. How do I get Webgrid to display correctly using the xhtml doctype?
2) Can I upgrade to the latest version of WebGrid (version 7.....) for free?
3) Does version 7 work with a doctype of xhtml ?

Based on functionality, Yes, our WebGrid 7 has supported XHTML doctype but for UI there could be some issues. That's why it still does not fully support XHTML. Our developer have a plan to fully support it by gathering all layout issue. I have created and forwarded a WI to our developer regarding layout issue. Please also reply into the other thread to help me in replicating your issue.

I'm pretty sure that WebGrid 7 already supports XHTML doctype, you can give it a try.
As James said, WebGrid 7 should supports XHTML doctype. Do you find an issue on WebGrid 7 with XHTML doctype? About whether you can get WebGrid 7 for free, it is depend on your order type. If you bought subcription and your subscription date still valid then you should able to get WebGrid 7 for free.

No...Someone in webgrid team told me that Webgrid 7 doesnt support XHTML. See my post and reply. And i found that right too...It all messed up using xhtml..
