Hi,
This is been a recurring issue for us since build 401, we're now in build 419 and it's still there. Columns dont align when the grid is grouped. This is happening with IE 7 in Compatibility View and pages with the XHTML doctype.
To reproduce this just take the Grouping.aspx sample from the WebUI Studio Samples project and modify the page directive to use the DefaultMasterXHTML master page.
<%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="DefaultMasterXHTML.master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Grouping.aspx.cs" Inherits="cs_WebGrid_Grouping" Title="Grouping" %>
Is there any solution for this problem? A workaround? Please understand that changing the doctype or the browser is not an option for us.
Thanks
Hello,
I’m currently still investigating this issue and need more time to provide you with solution, suggestion, or sample.
I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
Thank you.
Regards,-Martin-
Thanks for the update Martin, I'll be waiting for news.
I'm afraid I couldn't replicate your issue on my end. I have tried to run grouping.aspx in IE7 browser and set to DefaultMasterXHTML. But I didn't get the alignment issue when I group the grid.
I'm using WebGrid 7.0.7200.429. You might want to get the latest build version of your WebGrid.
Attached is the screenshot.
Hi Martin,
Are you using IE 7 Compatibility Mode? Because we know it's working in native. Or was this fixed for the 429 build? It was an issue since 401 till 419 (the one we're using). Could you confirm Martin if this is working in IE7 Compat?
Also, I just checked the Update Manager and 429 is not available there.
This issue only happens in IE7 compatibility mode. Could this be a browser's issue? Because it's working fine using IE8 or IE9.
I can report this issue to the developer team, but I'm not sure whether this is an issue from WebGrid or browser.
Would it be possible for you to upgrade your browser to either IE8 or IE9?
As you'd expect this is not really an issue about me changing my browser but having our clients do it, which is not as feasible. From my original post:
Please understand that changing the doctype or the browser is not an option for us.
There's no workaround for this? This issue has been present for ~2 years now. I tried IE8 & IE9... I think it's not an issue in native mode, but it always happens in compat mode.
Yes, I'm aware about changing the doctype or browser is not an option for your client.
Currently, I'm unable to provide any workaround for this issue. However, I will help you raising this issue to the developer team, so that they can provide a workaround/fix for this one.
I will create a report to the team about this issue and I will let you know when I get the update from them.
