You could use the TaskBarLeftTemplate in the WebDesktopManger to simulate the Start menu button and using WebDialogBox to pop up the option window.

Integrating label in the taskbar could be achieved by using the TaskbarRightTemplate. In the sample, the label content is set during onInitialize client side event. 

The sample use resource available in the WebDesktop provided sample.

I understand that the "start menu" used on Dev2.intersoftpt.com uses WebCallout for its elegant interface, and rows of items that can be highlighted and expanded (displayed subrows to the right)

Can you kindly provide a sample of such an interface..... with details on templating, as Dev2 uses a vertical line in the start button that is very elegant.

The TDN, dev2.intersoftpt.com, is using WebContextMenu to achieve the taskbar functionality. I have update the the attached sample to use WebContextMenu as well.

Thank for Info. But your case just simple display the text in the parent window. How about getting Context.User.Identity.Name value after user successfully login? Are there anyway to postbask to parent window's server side code to get the value? As our user would have diffficult menu after they have login, please provide a sample for create start menu from server side ( because it will retreive from DB directly ) after user login.

Moreover, after impletment the start menu and generate from server side code. we found that can't be display full submenu if it is a long menu which shown as attached. Pleasea help to solve.

I am terribly sorry I don't really get your question here. What kind of postback that you need to do? Could you explain in more detail? Do you create the start menu item from the database?
