I get a similar thing, but only on non IE browsers... i have the combo hidden in a div and when i show  the div the combo looks fine but as soon as i select a value from the combo the button dissapears???

Heres an example project if anyone wants to reproduce the bug....

Please follow the steps below in order to solve your issue.

1. Open “UCtrl.ascs” file in design-mode of Visual Studio.
2. Click cboCombo WebCombo instance and press [F4] key to show the ‘Properties’ window.
3. In the ‘Properties’ window, point your mouse to “LayoutSettings > ClientSideEvents > OnShowDropDown”.
4. Click the drop down button of “OnShowDropDown” and select “Add New Handler – cboCombo_OnShowDropDown(controlId, left, top, width, height)”.
5. Switch the page view into “Source” view.
6. In the OnShowDropDown function, add following line: cboCombo.DoResize();
   The OnShowDropDown javascript function then should look like below.

       <!--
       function cboCombo_OnShowDropDown(controlId, left, top, width, height) {
           var cboCombo = ISGetObject(controlId);
           cboCombo.DoResize();
           return true;
       }

   </script>

7. Done.
