object reference not set to an instance error when using pre-defined layouts

Thank You

 

i start up visual studio with an intersoft web project.

 

in the Default.aspx i drag a WebDesktop

I open the wizard for the WebDesktop

select the Layouts tab

within pre-defined layouts - i select any of them

i hit preview and the dialog box with the error message is shown
"object reference not set to an instance error"

after acknowledging the dialog box there is a message

404 Not Found

within the preview pane
