Hello Crosslight Support,
how is it possible to add a MapView to a Crosslight Android app?
With Xamarin it is really easy. You add a reference to the Mono.Android.GoogleMaps assembly. You place the MapView on your layout and you create an activity which derives from MapActivity. Pretty easy after you have the maps api key.
How can this be done with Crosslight? I haven't found a MapActivity or a MapActivity<T>. A step-by-step tutorial or better a working example would be nice.
How can I navigate to an Activity or Fragment without specifying the ViewModel? Is this possible?
Thanks,
Thomas
I created a simple sample by using the project wizard and do the following:
This MapView scenario has been included in the roadmap of Crosslight 3 where such features like location-based item binding will be added. Please have the sample evaluated on your end and let us hear your feedback.
Hello Yudi,
I don't know if I understood you right, but the sample you attached does not contain a MapViewActivity. Your way to solve the problem is ok, but it is not the scenario I have.
I was not excatly enough when describing my problem. I asked for the MapActivity<T> because I want to have a drawer navigation and one navigation entry is named "Location". When clicking this drawer navigation entry, I want to navigate to a fragment or activity which is showing the MapView. Is this possible?
You made me curious about Crosslight 3. Is there already a roadmap available? In the 2014 roadmap it said that Crosslight 3 will focus on UI and will be available in later Summer. Is this true?
Currently, in Crosslight 2, there is no MapActivity nor MapFragment yet. It is expected to be available on Crosslight 3. However, we can try to use the manual way such as shown by the sample attached on my previous post.
Hope this help.
It would be great to have a similar sample as provided for the scanner.
Please find the uploaded sample in here. The sample shows how to show MapView by clicking an item from drawer.
