I did get it working by adding the extra client-side call to disable the grid which did the trick, but that's yet another workaround that requires more overhead to something that should work. Not sure why the server-side Enabled setting isn't sufficient in our environment, but it should work even though we use a more complicated customized grid that derives from yours, we don't do anything with it to cause issues with the out of the box functionality in this case.

Thanks Yudi.

Why Does WebGrid Not Disable Input Row When Grid Enabled Property Is False?

We can disable WebGrid by setting the value of Enabled property to false. This can be done from either server-side or client-side.

I created two simple sample page of editable WebGrid (sample page is enclosed as attachment). On each page, there is a button that can be clicked to have the grid disabled.

I tried to reproduce the reported issue on my local end by viewing those sample files in browser but my efforts were not successful – everything worked as expected and the grid becomes not editable (user is no longer able to input any text on the new row.

I’m using WebGrid 7 build 431 and WebUI.NET Framework 3 build 772. Please have the attached sample files tested on your end and let us know if there is any step or information that I missed during my attempt to reproduce the problematic behavior.

Why Does WebGrid Not Disable Input Row When Grid Enabled Property Is False?

In a few of our pages, we have a read-only mode where we disable all the control on the page for those user who only have "view only" access.

One of the objects on the page is a WebGrid that's editable so it has an input row. The grid disables fine except for the input row. Why does the input row still allow input? This needs to be fixed ASAP please. Thanks.
