Hi Andi,

No, that was not the only reason. Its actually much more.

Here is the complete fixfor this issue:

1- In the default.css added this:

fieldset div span
{
float: left;
}

in my ascx code, put the grid between <fieldset> .... </fieldset> tags. and all good after that!

I really don't know that actual reason, may be something in my project, but that ffixed the issue!!

Thank you for your detail information. I am able to reproduce your issue now. I have forwarded this to our developer and I wil give you news as soon as possible if it has been solved.

Actually, the cause for this issue is "width:100%". We have already informed our customer that, we strongly do not recommend for them to use percentage in our WebGrid, because it might override our structure function. The best workaround for you case is to change the 100% to 100px, sorry for the inconvenience, but I have tried it and it works fine.

After further investigation, I found that, changing my CSS has great effect on all your controls.

So in my case, I have already existing ASP .NET web application that is relying alot on the CSS, and this CSS has a great effect on the controls. If I create these controls on a brand new application it will not bhave the same.

Now this application cano not be redesiginged with your tools, and in the mean time, I would like to continue this application using your tools, is there any way to have that fixed with any kind of work arround?

Example of CSS changes:

fieldset div
{
    float: left;
    /*clear: left;
    width: 100%;*/
    margin-bottom: 2px;
}

As you see, if I just remove the clear:left and with:100%, the above issue got fixed.

Please please I really need help from your guys, I don't know your application from inside and I don't have your source code to understand what is happening. Please help. and I amd ready to answer all your questions.

Sorry to tell you, but I am not able to run your sample since I do not have the database so I cannot repro your issue. However, I have tried all you setting that you used and implemented all into my sample and the result is still same, it works properly. I am suggesting that, try to create a simple WebGrid, using a Northwind database would be helpful, with TextEditor as an edit-type only. See if it gives us an expected result/layout or not. If it does not work, you might send those file as an attachment for me to investigate it furthermore.

Also note that:

If your remove the <fieldset> tags from the webgrid, the webtext editor will show the toolbar with no issues, but the maxheight will not work on the grid, and if you keep the <fieldset> tag, the maxheight will work but the text editor will have the toolbx not showing up.

Also note that, the applicaion gives me error if I don't have the next block:

I've created a Web User Control (.ascx)
Created a WebGrid, and some columns are configured as multilines.
Also the last column is configured to use WebTextEditor, as the following:

Now, my issue is, the MaxHeight property is not working at all, if I have large amount of data in the field, it keep growing the row with no limit.
The only way to make it work is put the GRID between <FieldSet></FieldSet>.

But if I do that, the WebTextEditor toolbar will be scrambled as shown in the attached image.
I tried to set RowHeightDefault="-1", but still same issue.
