Here is a quote and suggestion from the developer regarding this issue:

That is unfortunately a limitation from browser – we already used browser’s native API to perform the operation.

The solution that we usually recommend is to enable paging, either virtual or classic paging. That way, users can still browse data but without have to preload so much rows in the first load.

Delayed scrolling when freezing columns

Thank you for the sample. I have successfully replicate the issue in our environment.

I will need to consult the developer for a solution for this issue. I will inform you after I finish consulting the developer.

Delayed scrolling when freezing columns

We have have a grid which contains 40 columns, the first 4 of which are frozen. When the grid is loaded with large amount of data the horizontal scroller slows down considerably. We have experienced the following issues:

Clicking on the arrow on the extreme right side of the horizontal scroller does not seem to move the columns. It is only after a few clicks that the columns start to move and it again stops abruptly.

Clicking on the blank space on the scroller moves the scroller, however the columns are refreshed after a considerable time.

Clicking on the scroller and dragging it to right/left extremes takes a long time for the grid columns to move.

I have attached a sample to illustrate the issue. We are using WebGrid 7.0.7200.304 but it is also occuring with 7.0.7200.306. Is there any way to improve the scrolling performance of the grid when column freezing is used with large data sets?
