When using Firefox and setting AllowAddNew=”Yes” and AllowBatchUpdate=”true” together, then customizing the style of any column through the intersoft API will result in html markup that Firefox is unable to process.
In order to customize the appearance of specific columns through “CellStyle”, the grid will generate inline style blocks with a style for each customized column. The cell style names are composed of the column name and a generated prefix, separated by two dashes --. When both setting AllowAddNew=”Yes” and AllowBatchUpdate=”true”, some content is generated that confuses Firefox and makes it think that the two dashes in the name are mal-formed comment delimiters, so the interpreting of the table fails.
In the provided sample, I set the background color of the column to “Aquamarine” to provoke the problem (as well as turning on Edit and BatchUpdate).
I was able to reproduce the issue on my local test and have forwarded this to WebGrid development team.
The issue is filed under work item #915. The hotfix will be available in the next regular hotfix release. Should I heard anything from the team regarding work item #915, I will let you know.
Hi,
I'm having the same issue, is there any hotfix for this yet?
Thanks
Paul
Does any body actually reply to messages anymore? I've asked in the forum and submitted and support ticket regarding this issue and I haven't heard from anyone. I've replied to the support request as instructed in the automatic email if I didn't get a response within 24 hours and I've still not heard anything.
Can someone please answer me.
Thank you
First, deeply sorry for the late respond.
The submitted issue is already queued in our work items. However, it hasn't been processed further due to work items priorities and urgency.
I may be able to help raising the priority for the bug fix if you can assist me with your license information. Could you let me know if you currently own an active subscription?
Thank you for the reply.
We have got a single developer license for the ASP.NET suite 2010 which was bought around 2 months ago. As I mentioned in my previous post I've raised a support ticket through my developer account on your dev2 domain. Both the developer account and my community account use the same e-mail address.
Thanks.
Thank you with your license information.
I have forwarded this to WebGrid development team. I also have raised the priority of work item #915. Should I heard anything from the team regarding work item #915, I’m surely will let you know.
Thank you for your reply.
Is there an ETA for this or will I just need to wait until it gets resolved? Obviously I can't put a project on hold for a period of time I have no control over. Are we saying days/weeks/months?
I have good news related to work item #915.
The WebGrid development team has managed to fix the issue and the nightly build is ready. I have sent a message to Adam Davis and Paul Fletcher that shows the instruction to obtain the nightly build hotfix and how to apply the hotfix to the development PC environment. Kindly check the inbox of your registered email account and let us know if you had any problems to obtain or apply the hotfix.
Please note that nightly build (pre-release version of hotfix) is not tested for regression. We hope customers can collaborate and test it in their project.
Thanks for the build and fast turn around however I'm still running into the same problem.
Are there any other dependencies which I need to make sure are at a specific release before this will work? Such as WebDesktop etc?
I've got:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en">
Every time I try and enable AllowBatchUpdate I get the error in the png "Error - HTML 1.PNG" in firefox. If I change that to
Then firefox displays the grid correctly for me at 100% of height and shows my row data. If I then subsequenctly add in AllowAddNew="Yes" then I get the error in png "Error - HTML 4.PNG" with no data and no clientside functionality.
Ideally I'd like it working with my first doctype XHTML 1.0. If you need any more information please ask, also for your reference I'm using the exact same code as the zip file Adam supplied in the original post and thats doing exactly the same.
Edit: I've just tried http://live.intersoftpt.com/Default.aspx?url=cs/WebGrid/BatchUpdate_Enterprise.aspx and I get the same issue, however http://live.intersoftpt.com/Default.aspx?url=cs/WebGrid/XHTML.aspx works.
Any update on this issue?
Thank you.
I made a test of the nightly build on my local end by viewing a simple sample –the sample is enclosed as attachment- on Mozilla Firefox 4.0.1 browser. I find that everything worked smoothly (adding new record using batch update) and the page was accessed without any issues.
Could you please let us know the version of the Mozilla Firefox browser that you use? If you are using Mozilla Firefox 3.6.x, is it possible for you to test it on Mozilla Firefox 4.0.1?
Hi Yudi,
Just wondered if you got my emails regarding this issue?
I enclosed the test page and the video file that shows how the sample page runs on Mozilla Firefox 4 browser in my local end. As may seen on the video, the batch update works without any issue on Mozilla Firefox 4 issue.
Should you have different result, please kindly let us know.
Apologize for the delay in sending this.
