Hello,
I cannot create and save a new entry (or update an existing entry) to my SQL database via WebGrid, from client side, if an ampersand "&" is present. For example, "Cramer & Cramer" will produce an EntityName-related error.
I have scenarios in my applications, wherein my clients use WebInput or WebCombo to add or update records to Sql databases. Many of my clients (and their own clients) use the symbol "&" in their names.
I tried to reproduce the problem on my local end by creating a simple sample of page containing WebGrid. The grid is bound to Shippers table of Northwind SQL server database using ASP.NET SqlDataSource control. Adding new row with “Cramer & Cramer” text doesn’t replicate the problem in here.
For your information, I’m using the build version of WebGrid 7 and WebUI.NET Framework 3 which comes with Intersoft WebUI Studio 2011 R2 SP1.
I enclosed the sample page as attachment. Please have the sample evaluated on your end and let me know if there is anything that I miss during my attempt to reproduce the problem.
Hello Yudi,I tested your sample, including against my own Sql database, and it worked just fine. But after furher testing, it seems that the problem occurs when WebGrid is in Batch Update mode.
Please check any of your grid samples with Batch Update set to true and try to create or update a row with an ampersand in the entry.
Regards.Jean
I was able to reproduce the reported problem in my local end.
It is now forwarded to WebGrid development team under work item #1125. I will keep you informed with any news I heard from the team regarding work item #1125.
Thank you.
