Windows 8 64bitVS2012Intersoft WebStudio 2012 sp1
I get the following error when I try to start webgrid designer.
Here are the DLL's in the GAC
This problem might occur due to differences between metro designer assembly version in Intersoft Solutions folder and metro designer assembly version in GAC. Please try to check the How to update metro designer in Visual Studio 2012 knowledge base article in here.
Hope this helps.
I apologize for any inconvenience this problem may have caused you.
As stated in my previous post, the problem (shown in the image of the initial post of this thread) occur due to difference version between metro designer assembly and the product assembly.
For example: Developer X installs Intersoft WebUI Studio 2012 R2 and uses WebGrid 8 on his/her project. During development phase, he/she apply the hotfix of WebGrid 8. However, after apply hotfix he/she got the same problem as discussed in this thread when try to use the WebGrid designer.
This problem happen because the WebGrid designer assembly is not updated. It has different version compared to the WebGrid assembly. In order to address this problem, we need to update the designer assembly in GAC by carefully following the step-by-step explained in here.
... let me know EXACTLY which version of the Metro.Editor I need to have in the GAC...
Please install the metro designer assembly with the same version number as WebGrid version number contained in Program Files[x86]\Intersoft Solutions\WebUI Studio for ASP.NET\WebGrid.NET 8.0\Bin folder.
... I followed the instructions in the KB and I still have the same errors
Visual Studio is a great development environment for creating applications quickly. However, it will leave a lot of miscellaneous files all over your hard drive. As you create and run ASP.NET applications from Visual Studio temporary files are placed into the <system drive>\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework[64]\<version number>\Temporary ASP.NET Files folder.
You may have the same errors due to this. I suggest you to close the Visual Studio; clean up the Temporary ASP.NET files; and retry opening the designer (by right-click the WebGrid instance in design-view of Visual Studio and select WebGrid Designer… from the context menu; or click the SmartTag on the upper right of WebGrid).
If the problem still persists after performing these steps, please feel free to let me know. I’d be glad to assist you.
I’m so sorry if my reply doesn’t help much.
