Having a strange problem with unbound webcombo in UpdatePanel. My page has 2 tables both within an UpdatePanel. The first table has a regular dropdownlist that has AutoPostback=true. The second table has an unbound webcombo (latest version R2 SP1 V5). Page loads and everything looks fine, I select the first dropdownlist which does a postback to check the value and display another textbox for a specific value. When this occurs the webcombo drop down arrow turns to the number 6 and the webcombo accepts nothing. Now if I remove the UpdatePanel everything works.
A sample project showing the problem is attached. The framework version is .803 and the webCombo version is 5.0.7200.12
Any ideas where to look?
Hello,
Thank you for your sample. My apologize for the inconvenience.I’ve made a sample project base on your sample. I set the DropDownList to “Other”.I’ve tested the sample in IE9, Firefox, Opera, Chrome, and Safari as well.I’m using the framework version .803 and the webCombo version 5.0.7200.12 indeed. But unfortunately, I can’t replicate your issue on my end.I attached the screenshot of my sample’s result (WebCombo_UpdatePanel.png)
You said that you want to set a specific value in the TextBox. However, in your code, there is only the code to set the TextBox’s visibility.Would you mind to tell me, step-by-step how to reproduce your issue?
Also please make sure that assembly file in your project bin folder are using the latest hotfix version.
Thank you.Regards,Hans.
Thanks Hans,
What I am trying to do is if a users selects Other a textbox appears allowing them to enter more information in a textbox.
I am using the latest HotFixes. I will try to create a complete projects with all files that shows the problem.
Here is a complete project which shows the problem. Includes all dll's. Also here is an animated gif that shows how it reacts in the browser (IE 8). I am using VS 2008. If I remove the UpdatePanel then all works. Problem is only when an Updatepanel is used.
*I removed your attachment because it contains confidentials information such as licensing. Please ensure you remove them before posted in the thread.
Thank you for the project. After I investigated your project, I found out that this issue occurs when the project is using .NET Framework version 3.5 (or in VS 2008).I’ve tried your project by using .NET Framework version 4 (in VS 2010). And it works fine.We apologized for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.I would report this issue to our development team. I’ll let you know when the issue has been fixed.
Thank you for understanding.Regards,Hans.
Thanks Handy, I forgot about the licensing for webUI, I removed all other confidential information but forgot that!
Hans,
thank you, please let me know when a fix is avalible as this did break working functionality. We have not gone to VS2010 yet.
Your welcome John. I’ll let you know when fix is available.Thank you for your patience.
Regards,Hans
Any word about a fix for this issue?
I sent you a message to your registered email account. Please kindly check your inbox and let me hear your response.
Thank you.
Hans, no email came though to my email account. I've updated my email in my profile, but the one listed still should have worked.
I’ve sent a message to your email once more. Please kindly check your inbox and your junk folder as well.
Still no email in inbox or Junk folder, it could be our Exchange server that deletes possible junk before it actually reaches our inbox. Funny I have received email in the past from Intersoft.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience.
Please try to run my sample and let me know the result of my sample.
Regards,
Hans.
running your sample as is displays 2 javascript errors:
1) Line 83 Object Expected. Line it fails at is: InitWC40("webCombo1");
2) Line 94 Object Expected. Line iot fails at is: IsControl_InitialzeAtlas("WebCombo1")
