What DOCTYPEs are supported by WebGrid?

Hi!

What DOCTYPE versions are (fully) supported by your current release of the WebGrid? We would like to switch to HTML 4.01 Strict and know the the current version of WebGrid we have (version 6 I think) only supports HTML 4.0 Transitional. With "fully support" I don't mean to manually enter quirks mode or stuff like that.

Can you give a list of all fully supported DOCTYPEs and the known limitations related to your control? With limitations I mean for example using 100% width or height and auto-resizing features etc. In some other threads you say some features don't work, because "it's a limitation of the DOCTYPE", so I would like to know these details before switching DOCTYPE in the entire application and before buying a new WebGrid version.

XHTML doctype issue

I'm a user of WebGrid7,

the questions:

1) If I use a doctype of "<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">", then the column headers are not aligned with the actual colums.

If I change the doctype to "<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" >", then the WebGrid displays correctly, but I can't use this doctype, because the whole site is designed using the xhtml doctype. How do I get Webgrid7 to display correctly using the xhtml doctype?

It's very urgent!!!!!!!!

WebGrid, DocType and grouping problem

I'm using WebGrid version 7.0.7200.306. I have a grid with grouping enabled and paging mode VirtualLoad. Some of the columns shown in the grid have long captions.

If I set doctype in master page to

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" >

then grouping stops working. When you expand group, grid starts to load childs but they are not rendered. In the status bar number of rows loaded is increased. On the other hand, column captions in the grid header are displayed nice (in multiple rows / larger height).

If doctype is set to

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">

grouping works, rows are loaded and rendered and everything works as it should. However, column captions in the grid header are displayed in single row. If a column has long caption, only part of it is shown and the top of the other part can barely be seen in the bottom of column header cell.

Is it possible ,in any way, to solve this and have column caption displayed nice and rows rendered when expanding groups?

XHTML Doctype

As I noted in a thread yesterday (http://www.intersoftpt.com/Community/WebGrid/XHTML-Doctype-Problems/), we are still having a problem using WebGrid 7 with an XHTML doctype. As I mentioned, I downloaded and ran the proposed solution but it did not fix the issue. There seems to be some confusion about whether or not it did in fact fix the issue. I have attached a zip file which contains four screenshots of my running the proposed solution. If this same code works on your end, then there must be some reason related to a fix that has been developed but which we do not yet have or a browser that you are using but that we are not using. Is there a service pack or a newer version of the WebGrid beyond version 7, e.g., 7.1? If it works on your end, then there must be some difference between what version that you have and what we have or between what browser you are using and we are using.

The screenshots that I have attached are for IE7, with WebGrid 7.

Doctypes and Upgrading WebGrid

I'm a licensed user of WebGrid, currently using version 6.0.7200.210.

Three questions:

2) Can I upgrade to the latest version of WebGrid (version 7.....) for free?

3) Does version 7 work with a doctype of xhtml ?
