Aggregate Values Disappear Plus Extra Column When Ungrouped

I created the attached form with a webgrid (version 8).

The datasource is set in the page code behind in the Webgrid's initializedatasource event. The grid returns over 13,000 rows of data that are initially grouped with aggregated totals. I chose to use Client Binding because the performance is so much better. However, the following problems happen when Client Binding is used:

- The group totals appear and then disappear

- When the columns are "ungrouped" all of the data in the grid shifts to the right and the first data column is a new, empty column.

These issues don't occur when the client binding option is removed.

I have tried a multitude of options recommended in the documentation and in the forum but can't seem to find a combination of settings that offers great performance, proper layout when ungrouped, and group totals that are always displayed.

To whom it may concern,

I'm having the following problems :

Problem #1: In a webgrid with HideColumnsWhenGrouped set to "No" I group a column. Then I right click the group box and hit "Ungroup". The column is then duplicated in the grid.

Problem #2: Group any column in a webgrid. Drag the column down below the column definitions. The column disapears.

I was able to recreate these in the Grouping.aspx file in the WebGridSamples project that comes with Intersoft.

JSON Serialization error, when grouping

Hello!

I have webgrid with about 18000 rows. There is column ProductId, the count of ProductIds is closed to this value (18000). When webgrid is grouping this data by the ProductId column. I see error from the webgrid "Error during serialization or deserialization using the JSON JavaScriptSerializer. The length of the string exceeds the value set on the maxJsonLength property." I tried to increase value of maxJsonLength in web.config. But it does not solve the problem. (In this case, the webgrid just hung.) Is there any solution, except just not group by ProductId?

WebGrid, DocType and grouping problem

Hi,

I'm using WebGrid version 7.0.7200.306. I have a grid with grouping enabled and paging mode VirtualLoad. Some of the columns shown in the grid have long captions.

If I set doctype in master page to

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" >

then grouping stops working. When you expand group, grid starts to load childs but they are not rendered. In the status bar number of rows loaded is increased. On the other hand, column captions in the grid header are displayed nice (in multiple rows / larger height).

If doctype is set to

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">

grouping works, rows are loaded and rendered and everything works as it should. However, column captions in the grid header are displayed in single row. If a column has long caption, only part of it is shown and the top of the other part can barely be seen in the bottom of column header cell.

Is it possible ,in any way, to solve this and have column caption displayed nice and rows rendered when expanding groups?

RestoreExpandedGROUPEDRows?

In hierarchichal grid i can use e.Layout.RestoreExpandedChildRows = true for restore expanding rows after Batch update. How can i do this if i have grouped rows?

GetChanges() problem if the rows are grouped

I have a problem with GetChanges() if the rows are grouped. Please have a look on attached pictures and sample.

Following Code (DelChanges[i].Row.GetCell()) works in first group only!

Have I forgotten anything?

Delete a row in first group

Possible Bug - Can't add/delete record if UseValueListForSorting=Yes (with grouped columns)

I have a table with 3 columns:

- ID [GUID] autoincrement

- LineID [GUID] foreignkey

- ProductID [GUID] foreignkey

For columns LineID and ProductID I use ValueLists.

I set UseValueListForSorting = ValueListSorting.Yes because I want to sort by the DataTextField of Valuelist.

If the data are not grouped I can add or delete rows without problems.

But are the data grouped by LineID I get an errormessage like attached picture.
