Currently, we are highly prioritizing iOS and Android as we received the highest demand on these two platforms. The Windows support is increasingly complicated due to Microsoft's new unified platform strategy which would make existing platforms obsolete in the near future. Nevertheless, we continue to support Windows based on our customer's feedback. For instance, in this release, we shipped Navigation Drawer control and template for Windows 8.

With regards to the map view on Windows Phone, please file a feature request and vote it up. We will consider to add it in the next update if we received enough votes for it.

Regarding universal apps, it's actually a cross-platform solution which comprised of shared project and platform-specific project, similar to Crosslight solution. The main difference is that universal app is favoring Windows' own platforms such as ability to share XAML in the Core project. However, having XAML in shared project definitely defeats the purpose of SoC (separation-of-concern), and furthermore, it doesn't benefit other platforms. Therefore, so far, we don't see any benefits of supporting universal apps currently. In general, we continue to believe in our design philosophy which provides the most benefits for developers of all platforms due to vendor-agnostic shared project concept.

Hope this helps.

Crosslight and Windows Phone/WinRT

Hello Crosslight Support,

many of the new samples for Crosslight 3 are only available for iOS and Android. What about the Windows plattform? Will there be the same features (MapView, ViewSlider, ...) on Windows, too or is Crosslight more and more focusing on iOS and Android?

Will there be any efforts to support universal apps on Windows?

By the way, Xamarin Forms supports a MapView on Windows, too.

Thanks,

Thomas
