Here is a simple sample that I has set up to illustrate the scenario you are trying to achieve. In our environment the self reference child table run without any issue.

The sample is showing selfreferencing and hierarchical WebGrid. However the self referencing is done on the Root table. If you would like to have the self referencing in the child table, it could be done using the similar technique since our self reference setting is done on the table level.

You could also set the loading mode to Load on Demand whether you are using self referencing in the Parent or Child table. Did you encounter any issue using heirarchical and selfreference setting when setting the selfreference in the child table?

Hi Glenn,

The sample you mentioned is having a selfreference at the root table.I need self reference inside the Child table and the loading is 'Load on demand' ?Can you check with your techincal team is that possible ?

Our Selfreferencing feature is applied on table level, so it is possible to combine hierarchical and selfreferencing feature. We already have provided a sample for such scenario on the SelfReferencingwithHierarchicalGrid.aspx page in the WebGrid sample.

Hi,

Does anyone know is it possible to do a selfreferencing on a child table of my Roottable.

The child records of the seflreference table will be loaded by 'load on demand'.

My child records are not loading .I have my code to load the child on my InitializeSelfReferenceDatasource event.

Is it possible to have a selfreferencing inside a child table of the Root table.My child table should have a self refereing records.

If yes do you have any sample doing this?
