As Glenn has informed, it was a bug and has been reported.

Regards,
Handy

copy a webgrid

Handy,

Yeah that is the problem, I can copy the DataTable but any changes also appear in the bound grid as the DataTable is copied by Reference.

As I said in my "More Export Problems" thread, it appears the problem is related to the use of a ColumnTemplate. Support said it was a known issue being worked on.

If you take the sample "ProgrammaticServerSideExport" and convert a column to a Template, using a hYperlink and image within the Template you should see a problem.

I have written my own export function now so am not using the built export funcitonality at this point.

copy a webgrid

Hello,

It seems possible to copy DataTable into temporary. But once, if you still bind using modified datasource, then i think the effect would change as well as in export mode. As stated on your XML export issue, we will need to able replicate it first so we can investigate it in here.

This is related to the export problem I am experiencing. Since I can't get the ServerSide Export to work, what I am doing is creating a new dataTable and setting that to the WebGrid DataSource and then executing the WriteXML method of the DataTable. This work fine, but I want to remove certain columns and change some column names, but since the DataTable I created is based upon the WebGrid DataSource by Reference, if I change anything it changes it in the orginal data source. What I would like to do is to get atemporary copy of either the datasource of grid so I can make changes to the data table before exporting without affecting the original data source.

copy a webgrid

Hello,

Could you explain more detail about your scenario? If you only want to change the style then it can. But i am not sure if this is what you wanted to.

Regards,
Handy

copy a webgrid

Is it possible to make a new tempraory copy of a webgrid. I need to make a temp copy of the webgrid and do some stuff to it without affecting the original webgrid. Is this possible? I see there is a clone method, but I guess I am using it wrong and it's not working as I thought it would. Any sample?

Thanks
