Attached is ClientBinding_Paging.aspx sample that has been modified for creating the grid programatically.

Do you mind referencing the article in the WebGrid 7 white paper that mention seamless upgrade from WebGrid 4 to WebGrid 7?

Currently, we do not have a document / article regarding updating WebGrid 4. Do you mind providing the WebGrid 4 markup for further assitance?

The client binding samples are very basic compared to the code I have to upgrade.

Also all our application data bindings are done at runtime.

The grid is also built programmatically (layout, columns, etc...)

What I would need to see is an example of a non-basic application with the above specifications.

Upgrading from WebGrid 4 to 7 is not seamless as described in your WebGrid 7.0 White pager...

Do you have a document that would help determine what need to be upgraded?

You could check our numerous client binding sample, already provided in the WebGrid sample, for some information on implementing client binding for your scenario.

We could use the ClientBinding_Paging.aspx and BatchUpdate_AllowReview.aspx sample to compare the performance between client binding and server side binding. Using the sample the data footprint is reduced by ~85%, the faster response will be more apparent if you are using slow connection speed and a large data source as seen in our benchmark chart.

Hi,

I am struggling to adapt an application which used WebGrid 4 to WebGrid 7

All the code is using Server side Binding.

I read that I could minimize the changes by using ServerDataSource mode.

I have modified the code to use the new Webgrid events.

The code works but I do not get a faster page load.

In the Webgrid 7.0 White pager I read that by changing protected void WebGrid1_InitializeRow to client side function WebGrid1_OnInitializeRow(id, row) I would get a reduces data footprint by over 90 percent and improves overall response time by 10 times

Will this change be sufficiant to get the 10x faster response or are there other code that must changed?
