Unfortunately, we are using WebGrid 6, so I cannot try your WebGrid 7 hotfix. Will you be able to provide a hotfix WebGrid 6 to address this issue?

Please try the new nightly build of WebGrid 7 build 406. Let me know if the issue still occured.

Please refer to http://www.intersoftpt.com/Build/ApplyHotfix to patch the hotfix manually.

Yes, it is still occured in the latest version of WebGrid. I still have not heard any news from the developer.

Is there any news on this issue? Will there be a workaround or a hotfix for it in Webgrid 6.0.7200.211? Also does grouping work without error for a self-referencing grid in the latest version of Webgrid?

I executed your sample from Visual Studio 2008

(Version 9.0.30729.1 SP) on my laptop. It is running Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP 3.

In a Hierarchical grid (self referencing), if I expand a row, then do a manual grouping in the grid, I get an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error.

What is causing this error?

I have no problem doing this in a flat grid or a grid with a parent/child relationship.
