The drawer navigation support is scheduled for the October update which will be available from Update Manager.

Regarding the missing resources and sample issues, could you collaborate more details? Which resources you find missing, and which samples are crashing, as well as the error details and stack trace will be great.

Thanks,
Jimmy

Crosslight + Android + Navigation Drawer

Hi Jimmy,

Thanks for the reply. Do you have any ETA of this feature? It is going to get released through the Update Manger or is expected for 2013 R2?

I'm asking since I was very excited to use Crosslight in an already finished Android and iOS project.

About the compilation issues. There are indeed missing resources and regarding the version of Xamarin, I'm using the latest; the only thing I changed in the Android projects was to target the API 17 (Android 4.2).

Xamarin Studio
Version 4.0.12 (build 3)
Runtime:
Microsoft .NET 4.0.30319.18052
GTK 2.24.20
GTK# (2.12.0.0)

Xamarin.Android
Version: 4.8.1 (Business Edition)
Android SDK: C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk
Supported Android versions:
1.6 (API level 4)
2.2 (API level 8)
4.0.3 (API level 15)
4.2 (API level 17)
Java SDK: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.7.0_25
java version "1.7.0_25"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_25-b17)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 23.25-b01, mixed mode, sharing)

I'm not using Xamarin in Windows, I'm instead using Visual Studio 2012 Update 3 in a Windows 7 64bit SP1 platform. But regardless of that, I'm using the latest version of mono, Xamarin.Android, which are the minimum required versions for Crosslight.

Still some samples throws exceptions which seems to be related to the Crosslight library.

Regards,
Dave
Crosslight + Android + Navigation Drawer

Hello David,

Welcome to the Crosslight forum!

Good questions. In this first release, we shipped the most fundamental project templates as priority. We already have the "Drawer navigation" in our agenda. In the next update, you can expect an intuitive Drawer navigation that works consistently in iOS and Android with the same MVVM and binding philosophy.

Regarding the compilation issues, please make sure you have updated to the latest Xamarin Studio and the latest Mono builds. This information is written in the documentation, but I've pasted it in the following for your convenience.

Crosslight for iOS and Android are built on newer Xamarin Platforms that based on Mono 3.0 framework. The following list describes the minimum required versions of Xamarin Platforms.

Mono 3.2.1

Xamarin Studio 4.0.11

Xamarin.iOS version 6.4.1

Xamarin.Android version 4.8.1

If you already installed Xamarin Studio, you can check the version in the Xamarin Studio menu, then choose About Xamarin Studio. If the versions are lower than specified above, please install the latest updates. From the Xamarin Studio menu, choose Check for Updates.

Once your development environment has meet the above version, everything should work flawlessly.

Let me know if you have any questions, or have problems configuring either Xamarin or Crosslight in your development environment.

Best,
Jimmy

Crosslight + Android + Navigation Drawer

Good day,

In the documentation you talk about the "Navigation Project Template" which provides navigation feature. But in the Android samples I don't see the use of the Navigation Drawer.

Is it possible to achive this in the way Crosslight do it?

For more information about Navigation Drawer, please see the following links:

http://developer.android.com/design/patterns/navigation-drawer.html

http://developer.android.com/training/implementing-navigation/nav-drawer.html

There's also a similar behavior in iOS, don't currently recall how it is called. But would be nice to know if it also applies to this platform too.

Note: I've already worked with some Xamarin projects and have implemented the Navigation Drawer, but will be nice to see how Crosslight implements it, if it does.

Note 2: Btw, some samples doesn't compile because of missing resources (easy fix) and others crashes in the Crosslight dll.

Thanks in advance,

Dave
